Not only does this company value productivity, skill, quality and efficiency, but it places as much emphasis on developing honesty, trust and integrity
Since starting Kings Construction in 2005 Pete had a passion for taking on apprentices and training them up in skills that can provide employment for them in the future. Typically he found people who had not had the best opportunities or started off on the best footing and gave them a purpose and direction. He found great satisfaction in operating a business that was doing more lasting good than just being a good business. Having received many positive comments on work that he did on his own dining table using reclaimed scaffold-board he started to think that designing and building high quality furniture from this material could be an additional way to provide opportunities to even more people.
A way to provide these workers with job satisfaction, character building, self-belief and ultimately, a purpose. Built4Purpose was born! Making sure the company had the necessary skills to design and build furniture for both commercial and domestic use they started to build prototypes in their newly acquired shipping container in Rotherhithe (another example of taking something that would otherwise be discarded and giving it a new purpose).
Our Team
We have started with a small team of people who have come from King's Construction, including a qualified furniture designer. We also have a builder who is an ex-probation officer which should only help in our vision to employ those who need help - like ex-offenders.
Pete (director of built 4 purpose & king's construction)
As a born again Christian and committed member of a local church, who I am and what I do has been shaped completely by what Jesus has done for me. Because he has shown me undeserved kindness I am determined to build businesses that pass this on. That is why I am passionate about helping others and building a workplace where we can have fun, laugh and encourage each other, and support one another in being the best we can be.

Joining the King’s Construction family has been one of the best decisions I have made so far. I left the National Probation Service as probation officer in 2015, looking to learn a new vocation but bring the skills I had developed to a new environment. I am working alongside great colleagues who share my passion in wanting to help others. There is a real sense of comradery as we work together, learn from each other and support each other both in and out of work. It’s a privilege to oversee what’s happening at B4P and it’s a bonus that I am able to build things with my hands. I am proud of the drive at this company to not only deliver quality product to our clients, but also to unlock the best within the people who work here

Having qualified as a furniture designer from university I have been employed in the building trade since 2000. I have worked with Pete for many years. I am privileged to be able to bring my experience and expertise to help train colleagues and new apprentices. I enjoy bringing out the best in those I work with. Not only does this company value productivity, skill, quality and efficiency, but it places as much emphasis on developing honesty, trust and integrity. A great place to work!

When I joined King’s Construction I had no previous experience of building but here I am now, less than a year later and I feel I have acquired all the necessary training to do a great job and be confident in helping others ‘learn the ropes’. It is really exciting to be part of this company with a vision to create jobs, train young people and produce quality products for customers

After finishing my GCSEs in 2013 I had no idea what I wanted to do for a career or with my life. I decided to do an apprenticeship in plastering at college. After doing this for a couple of years, I was offered a job at King’s Construction by Pete, who I knew from before. It’s been an amazing blessing to have worked under Pete’s guidance and with the other guys who have all taught me loads as I develop into a man. Not only have I learnt life-long skills that I can use to gain employment, but working with these guys has given me confidence to come out of my shell and out of my comfort zone to do things I never thought possible. One example is that I will be spending an extended period of time on the other side of the world in Australia in the mid-term, away from family and friends. Something that, before, I would never have dreamed I would do
